Worth owning and worth studying. Its listing says "NSF-Certified KDF", which certifies the material inside the cartridge, not the finished device. That is a real certification of a real thing, and it is not the same as the filter being certified.

The most interesting certification line in this registry
"NSF-Certified KDF" is precisely accurate and easy to misread. KDF media is manufactured to a specification and certified as a material — that is a genuine certification of a genuine thing, and it means the copper-zinc alloy inside the cartridge meets a defined standard. It does not mean the assembled filter was tested to NSF/ANSI 177 and issued a mark.
Those are different assurances. A certified material tells you the ingredient is what it claims to be. A certified device tells you the finished product reduced a defined chlorine challenge by a defined amount at a defined flow rate. A filter can contain excellent media and still perform poorly if the housing lets water channel around it, and only the device-level test catches that.
