It claims up to 99.9 percent on chlorine and chloramine; WaterFilterGuru measured 86 percent on chlorine. It holds no certification, and its chloramine capacity is stated at a tenth of its chlorine capacity.

A genuinely different media class
Almost everything in this category is KDF-55, calcium sulfite, granular activated carbon, vitamin C, or some combination. Filterbaby is the exception: activated carbon fiber plus a polyethylene membrane the maker describes as capturing down to 0.00001 mm.
That is worth understanding rather than skipping. Carbon fiber presents far more accessible surface area per unit volume than granular carbon, and the diffusion distance into a fiber is much shorter than into a granule. Both of those work in favor of a device with almost no contact time — and contact time is the constraint that defeats ordinary carbon in a shower, where the water is inside the cartridge for roughly a tenth of a second against the tens of seconds granular carbon wants. So the mechanism is plausible, and it is a real point of difference. What it is not is verified at the device level, which brings us to the numbers.
99.9 percent claimed, 86 percent measured
Filterbaby publishes reductions of up to 99.9 percent for chlorine and for chloramine, and 99 percent or more for lead initially. WaterFilterGuru's bench test of the Filterbaby Pro recorded chlorine going from 1.68 PPM to 0.23 PPM — about 86 percent, the second-lowest figure in their set.
Both numbers can be honest. A manufacturer's figure is typically a fresh cartridge under controlled conditions; an independent bench test is one tester's supply at one cartridge age. We are not calling the claim false. We are pointing out that the gap between 99.9 and 86 is large, that only one of the two was produced by a disinterested party, and that you should weight them accordingly.
The certification wording
"3rd-Party Tested To Exceed NSF 177 Standards." Read literally, that describes exceeding a standard the product is not stated to hold, which is the weakest of the four constructions this category uses and the same one the two highest-volume brands use. No certifying body is named and no listing exists to search.
It is worth saying what that does and does not mean. It does not mean the testing did not happen or that the product is poor. It means there is nothing independent for you to check, and on a site that ranks certification first, that places it behind the one head that actually carries one.
What it gets right
Two things, and both are unusual enough to name. It claims chloramine reduction at all, which most of this category is silent on — and roughly one in five US water systems uses chloramine, so that silence matters. And it makes no hard-water or softening claim anywhere, which in a category where products are routinely titled "shower water softener" is a mark of care rather than an omission.
The titanium-aluminum housing is also a real difference from the plastic bodies that dominate the inline end of this market, though we have handled none of them and are reporting the material rather than judging the build.
